Our Mission
RubyWell is paving a path to financial stability for all family caregivers
We were inspired to start RubyWell by our own experiences while caring for people we love. While everyone’s journey through caregiving is unique, one thing that remains constant is the financial strain it can cause.
So we’re building a platform that continuously discovers and delivers opportunities for family caregivers like you to save on care costs and earn money for the care you provide. That way, you can focus on caring for your aging loved ones, and be better prepared to plan for your own care down the road.
At this time, RubyWell is serving Pennsylvania families who care for someone who lives in or near the following counties:
- Bucks
- Montgomery
- Philadelphia
We plan to expand to more PA counties in the near future. So if yours isn't mentioned, take the eligibility quiz and we'll note which county you live in. When we bring RubyWell to your county, we'll let you know.
RubyWell partners with Medicare-approved home health agencies.
For eligible families, RubyWell can help any family caregiver get trained, certified, and hired by one of our partner home health agencies, including a spouse or even a friend. The caregiver must be at least 18 years old, legally allowed to work in the U.S., and may be required to pass background and/or drug tests to get paid to care for you, in addition to passing the required certifications for becoming a home health aide.
If you qualify for our program, you’ll need to complete a combination of online (59 hours) and in-person (16 hours) training, and pass a test to become a Medicare-certified Home Health Aide. Currently, there is no cost for the online training program.
No, you’ll be paid the going hourly rate for home health aides in your area. RubyWell doesn’t take a penny of your earnings.
RubyWell is not a needs-based program, like Medicaid. So we don't require care recipients to meet any income or asset limits. If your family qualifies for RubyWell, the person you care for can hold on to what they've got.
Yes, any money you earn as a certified home health aide or CNA with one of our home health agency partners is taxable.
There is no copay for covered home health care under Original Medicare. If the person you care for qualifies for home health care, they pay $0 for these services.
Medicare Advantage plans must cover at least the same home health benefits as Original Medicare, but they may charge a copayment for home health services, depending on the specific plan.
